Viesol AQ series - Viesol AQ dye range

Composition Viesol AQ dyes are concentrated solutions of metal complex dyes in a special combination of water-miscible, low toxicity solvents.

Description: The Viesol AQ range can be used in Solvent, Aqueous or Water-miscible media and offers the following advantages:

• good light fastnessk

• good fastness to migration

• deep, even dyeings

• high brilliance

• high concentration

Viesol AQ dyes have very good solubility. When Viesol AQ dyes are to be used in a solvent media a pre-dilution with IPA is recommended to ensure compatibility or when used in Aqueous media it is also recommended to pre-dilute also with IPA although usually this is not necessary

Vie Microtint range

Application: Use 0 – 200 parts per kg in base coat as required, Sufficient Resin binders and even Casein binders are a must to ensure no migration and needs to be checked

Composition Vie Microtint range are highly dispersed Aqueous fine particle non-ionic, binder free pigments with excellent heat and light fastness.

The main characteristics are:

• No over-loading of the grain and retains a fine break

• Can be used for anionic or cationic finishes reducing inventory

• Free of Heavy metals, formaldehyde and restricted substances

• All colours have similar solids and volume for ease of use

• All colours have excellent Light and Heat resistant

Typical Properties:

Viepaque pigment range

Description Viepaque Pigments are available in a compact range of shades. Their fine dispersions make them ideal for use in the finishing of most leather types. They have been selected to obtain the maximum covering power possible. VP Pigments offer high physical properties. All VP Pigments are suitable for use in automated colour dispensers in conjunction with Computer colour match prediction systems.

Application: Their anionic nature makes them suitable for use with any anionic aqueous binders. It is important to use the correct primary colours when matching fashion shades in order to achieve a suitable fastness level for the finished product.For semi-aniline finishes, the required final shade is first matched with VP Pigments to get maximum coverage of defects, then lightened with an addition of 20% VP Tan or Beige(for tan and brown shades) or 20% white (for blue, red, green shades). Leather is then base coated with this lighter colour and finally matched to the required final shade with an over-spray of top coat with Viesol LD liquid dyes etc.

Composition Viepaque pigments are a range of aqueous anionic pigment dispersions designed specifically for leather finishing.They are finely ground and well dispersed in an acrylic medium and ground in such a way that pigment molecules are separated by micro spacers reducing flocculation and increasing tinctorial value and coverage.

The main characteristics are:

• High coverage of defects, dramatic upgrading of low grade crust

• Compact range of colours all with built in pigment spacers

• Free of Heavy metals, formaldehyde and restricted substances

• All colours have very good Light and Heat resistant

Application: Use 50 – 100 parts per kg in base coat as required.

Composition Vietint Ultrafine range are aqueous fine particle sized anionic, casein bound transparent pigments, they are used to replace liquid dyes where high heat and light-fastness are required but with similar anilinity.

The main characteristics are:

• No over-loading of the grain and retains a fine break

• Transparent and finely divided particles acting like dyes\

• Free of Heavy metals, formaldehyde and restricted substances

• All colours have very good Light and Heat resistant much better than liquid dyes

Vieblock C6

Solids content: 10%

PH value: 7

Flash point: circa 62oC

Composition Vieblock C6 is based on Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT), and is a Lipophilic Organic compound, derived from Phenol and is useful for its antioxidant properties. Harmless Trivalent Chrome used for tanning has little or no toxicity, it can however under certain conditions oxidize and convert to the highly toxic Hexavalent Chrome which causes dermatitis and even cancer. Vieblock C6 when sprayed on the flesh side of Leather and absorbed into the Leather fibres will prevent this very effectively.

Description: Vieblock C6 is a colorless-slightly yellowish milky liquid ready to use or diluted with water and applied onto the flesh side of the Leather. For maximum effect spray un-diluted:

Vie Paste AS

Solids content: 27%

PH value: 3+-1

Composition Vie Paste AS is an Alkali swellable acrylic rheology modifier.

Description: Vie Paste AS is a whitish, low viscosity liquid. The product increases the viscosity and improves the levelling of aqueous base coats. Ensure the pH is above 8 for maximum thickening action, addition of a suitable alkali ensures full reaction.

Application: The thickening effect of Vie Paste AS depends not only on the amount used, but also on the kind of polymers in the formula. The thickening effect of Vie Paste AS is reduced by the presence of solvents. The required application amount should be tested in trials for each case and is normally between 10 – 50 parts per litre. In most cases, the viscosity for spraying application for aqueous finishes should ideally be between 12 – 25 secs Ford Cup 4 for spraying or 20 – 40 secs Ford Cup 4 for Roller coating

Vie Leveller

Solids content: 8%

PH value: 7+

Composition Vie Leveller is a yellowish liquid. The product improves the levelling of aqueous top coats and base coats. It helps to remove pinholes, craters, reticulation and improves general flow properties in spray or roller coat applications.

Application: Vie Leveller can be used in all aqueous finishing coats where a perfect flow out is needed. Vie Leveller can be used in aqueous roller coater applications and spray base coats or top coats. Vie Leveller also improves considerably the smoothness of finishes and increases gloss.

Example of application: Use in all aqueous mixes from 20 – 30 g/kg mix

Vie Paste RM

Solids content: 13%

PH value: 7+-

Composition Vie Paste RM is a non-ionic Associative Polyurethane rheology modifier polymers with surface-active substances.

Description: Vie Paste RM is a whitish, viscous liquid. The product increases the viscosity and improves the levelling of aqueous top coats and base coats. Unlike many thickeners has little or no effect on gloss and can even increase it.

Application: The thickening effect of Vie Paste RM depends not only on the amount used, but also on the kind of polymers in the formula. The thickening effect of Vie Paste RM is reduced by the presence of solvents. The required application amount should be tested in trials for each case and is normally between 15 – 50 parts per litre. In most cases, the viscosity for spraying application for aqueous finishes should ideally be between 12 – 25 secs Ford Cup 4 for spraying or 20 – 40 secs Ford Cup 4 for Roller coating

Viefix LTX

Composition Viefix LTX is a aqueous low formaldehyde protein fixative to replace the traditionally used Formalin in Glazed, Imitation Glazed Leather finishes.

Description: Viefix LTX is clear water white to slightly milky white Protein crosslinking agent. The product forms no film and has a pleasant odour. It is intended as a safer and less toxic replacement for Formaldehyde for fixing Protein finishes.

Viefix OC

Composition Viefix OC is a phosphonium based formaldehyde free Protein fixative in an aqueous medium

Description: Viefix OC is a colorless water soluble liquid crosslinking agent. The product forms no film and has little odour. Viefix OC is used as an over spray and can be used to fix both cationic and anionic protein finishes. It is intended as a safer replacement for the traditionally used formaldehyde and other aldehyde based fixatives

Vie Fresh range

Composition: Vie Fresh range are a specially designed range of Leather refreshers and mould eaters for all types of Leathers

Application: Use on all types of Leather usually on the flesh side by spraying but can also be used as a fungal cleaner on both sides by sponge or cloth application.

• Eliminates unwanted odours from low grade fatliquors etc

• Kills bacteria and fungus on old or badly stored Leathers

Vielink AZ

Composition Vielink AZ is a product based on Polyaziridine

Description: Vielink AZ is a yellowish, medium viscosity, water dilutable liquid.

Application Vielink AZ is used as an extremely effective crosslinker for all types of aqueous finishes and coatings including the following:

• proteins

• polyacrylate dispersions

• polyurethane dispersions

• NC emulsion lacquers

• CAB emulsion lacquers

Attention: As Vielink AZ is a reactive product, protect eyes and skin when handling (protective gloves and glasses) and avoid inhalation of vapours and spray dusts !

N.B: To ensure that the product quality is maintained, the container should be tightly sealed when not in use. Store at normal room temperature, and prevent prolonged exposure to extreme heat or freezing conditions, which may cause product separation. Composition Viepur Compact X’treme is an aqueous, soft and stretchy, high covering yet with very low tack Compact Binder based on a combination of state of the art core-shell acrylics and micro aliphatic polyurethanes with all necessary fillers, waxes, and other auxiliaries and is ready to use. Every winter thousands of Leather Garments and other articles get damaged beyond repair by exposure to extreme temperatures as low as -30oC and the whole articles cracks like glass and cannot be repaired, Viepur Compact X’treme can withstand over minus 30oC without damage….

As it contains no emulsifiers it has little or no effect on dynamic or static water resistance on performance Leathers.

Viepur Velour Fix Application: Viepur Velour Fix is a special binder for thin, almost invisible fixation of dyes and dust for suedes, nubucks, velours or naked drum dyed Leather. Due to the low thermoplasticity, it can also perfectly be used where hot stamping may be carried out by the article maker (bags, belts etc).

Viepur-89 forms a very soft, elastic and sticky film and has been modified to penetrate deeply, most competitors’ products tend not to penetrate and although improve adhesion of Leather finish to the epidermis, there is often a weakness between the Epidermal and Dermal layers and adhesion tests often fail with removal of finish with the weakened grain.

Composition Vie Compound V is a highly viscous special compound composed of high filling encapsulated microspheres, soft extendable acrylic copolymers, a synergistic blend of fillers dispersion containing and other high filling substances. It is designed to supplement any stucco operation by completing the total upgrading with a highly covering ground coat, which can be lightly buffed, or ironed/embossed and further finished with our extensive range of acrylic/pu binders as required. On medium grade leathers may replace stucco with a highly covering/filling layer of Vie Compound V.

Description: Vie Compound V is a specially designed product with a white paste like appearance. Vie Compound V can also be added to base coats to increase volume and therefore coverage and filling, especially suited for Roller coat application as the hollow encapsulated polymers may effect rheology and spraying levelness. • Vie Compound V is applied without dilution on the leather surface by Roller Coat. It may also be applied by hand with a spatula, or for Leatherboard by a knife coating machine.

• Care must be taken that all defects which should be covered on the surface

• must be completely filled up with the product, a second coat may be applied to be sure. For very low grade apply first Vie Revive and Vie Revive RC, after drying, the leathers will be buffed to remove any surplus stucco. Articles would then be finished with Vie Compound V and further finished as required.

• Vie Compound V can be coloured with Vie Microtint pigments or Viesol AQ dyes up to 10%.

Composition: Vie Oil L is a concentrated blend of vegetable and aromatic mineral spirits with added aroma.

Description: Vie Oil L is a liquid, semi translucent liquid of medium viscosity, which is designed to be used without dilution for Pad, Roller coat or spray application. The product is specially developed for a natural glazed, polished look. Vie Oil L shows following properties

The main characteristics are:

• Softening additive for Semi or Vegetable Leathers with a natural long lasting shine

• For Polished finishes as a pre-ground to even out absorbency of the crust, spray neat

• To improve repolishability and increases gloss of unfinished Leathers

• Low to medium Pull up effect, when applied heavily without dilution

Vie Oil L Application:

Vie Oil L is usually used alone for polish or pre-grounds on full grain or buffed leathers. The product improves considerably inferior leathers (Upgrading). Vie Oil L evens out the absorbency of the crusts and keeps a fine grain break. For pull-up articles, Vie Oil L is applied undiluted on the crust usually by roller coater, Sponge, Pad or Spray. Leathers can be polished after leaving a few hours, using machine or by hand with a soft cotton or wool cloth

1. High Gloss Pull up Corrected grain leathers:

• 100% Vie Oil L Roller coat x 1 -2 times

• Leave as long as possible preferably overnight

Vie Oil G

Composition: Vie Oil G is a water dilutable Oil emulsion in cream form with medium darkening and pull up effect for most types of Leathers, due to its vegetable base it is extremely glossy, and may also be used as an additive in glazed, polished or high gloss casein based finishes. Being a cream by nature it is highly suitable for Roller coat application, it may be diluted by adding water into the cream, stirring and well and further dilution afterwards as required.

It may be used alone directly onto the crust, or used with Viesol LD dyes on crust or base coated leathers for various two tone antique or marble effects, or add 1-2% Vie Microtint White pigment and make your own White Wax for pigmented pull up or waxed effects.

The main characteristics are:

• Covers and fills defects, gives whitish look with high polishability

• Gives a pleasant Waxy silky feel to the Finish

• Has good heat and light fastness

• Can be used as a White wax for fantasy pigmented leathers or with other oils and waxes for a wide range of polishable, burnishable aniline leathers

Vie Bag Wax is preferably used for high gloss polishing effects on smooth leathers and embossed leathers; it leads to a glossy two tone effect on the tips of the grain. When rotoplating at 110 –120° C the gloss of the leather is increased considerably. By adding Vie Bag Wax to Oils like Vie Oil PW and Waxes like Vie Antik Wax 40 a wide range of controlled white break effects and aged second hand looks can be developed. Use directly onto crust with or without Viesol LD dyes or Vie Microtint pigments for Velour/Nubuck looking and feeling leathers, apply in circular motions by pad, brush or sponge for Marble designs etc.

• Add 50 – 150 parts per kg with Vie Oil PW and Vie Antik Wax 40 for increased whitening effect

• Use as an over-spray Feel coat 100 – 250 parts Vie Bag Wax with 200 – 750 parts Water for a waxy sensuous feel, spray light or as required, can be followed by a light Iron or Hot Plate 100oC + Dry Mill for whitish look.

Vie Canvas Wax

Composition: Vie Canvas Wax is a high solids emulsifier free highly bleached top grade Paraffin Wax emulsion. Vie Canvas Wax has been saponified to create Stearates in-situ which provides water repellency to cloths and canvas . It may be used alone directly onto the cloth, or used with small amounts of either Viesol LD dyes or Vie Microtint pigments for various two tone antique or marble effects, or add 1-2% Vie Microtint White pigment and make your own White Wax for waxed pull up or vintage waxed effects. Vie Canvas Wax has no limit in its ability to help the Designer create a wide range of “Fantasy” Fashion effects only limited by their imagination. Apply by Dip, Roller, Pad or Spray. Dry well. Apply 2nd Coat if more vintage look is required (with addition of 1-2% Vie Microtint White) or Apply Vie Designer Wax lightly with or without color.

The main characteristics are:

• Stiffens Cloths, Adds Stand to materials, adds character to lifeless articles

• Gives a pleasant Waxy silky feel to the Cloth

• Has good heat and light fastness

• Can be used as a White wax by addition of 1-2% Vie Microtint White

Vie Wax 60 Application: Used on all types of Cloths for a wide range of Fashionable Fantasy finishes. Vie Canvas Wax is preferably used for adding character, handle and water repellency to dull lifeless cloths. When Ironing at 110 –120° C the gloss of the finish is increased considerably as well as achieving a darkening effect. By formulating with Vie Designer Wax, Oils like Vie Oil PW and harder darker waxes like Vie Antik Wax 40 a wide range of controlled white break effects and aged second hand looks can be developed., apply in circular motions by pad, brush or sponge for Marble designs etc.

• Use un-diluted as Dipping solution for Canvas and Cloths, Dry well with heat, iron 120-140oC, Tumble for broken vintage effect

• Use for “Magma Climax” fashion effect for handbags, apply in following method: 1/ Pad wet Vie Canvas Wax onto old low quality even crack grained leathers, dry hot if possible at 100oC, stake and mill to crack grain, spray x 2-3 wet Viepur-35, Spray x 1 Vielac W-88 diluted 2:1 with methoxy propanol, Iron 120oC mill, stake and butterfly, Kiss plate or light iron 120oC

Vie Cat Wax -Cationic Wax

Application: Vie Cat Wax is either used as Ground Coat in Finishing to upgrade and Seal off damaged grain or as a Top Spray after finishing to improve Naturalness and to Give an Unfinished sensual feel to the Leather…

• Deals off rough and damaged grain aiding upgrading as well as for snuffed or corrected leathers for a full grain look with a fine grain break

• As a Top spray provides an attractive, silky feel and luster

• Has an anti-static effect, reducing possible electric shocks during mechanical operations

• Chemical character: fatty acid condensation product

• Ionic character: mildly cationic

• Active substance: circa 14% +-1%

Vie Cat Wax Application: Vie Cat Wax is diluted with cold water as required and sprayed or roller coated onto the crust. Can be used in combination with Viepur Cat HP or with Vie Catbase in any proportion, may be colored with non ionic Vietint Pigments for maximum coverage. Hot Ironing or Plating helps to seal off damaged and rough grain giving a dramatic upgrading of Leathers without hardening.

Vie CatFill – Encapsulated Microspheres in Cationic Wax/Oil

Application: Vie CatFill is used as Ground Coat in Finishing to Fill and Seal off damaged grain to upgrade the Leather…It is based on encapsulated polymeric microspheres finely dispersed in a cationic Wax and Oil emulsion.

The main characteristics are:

• Good heat and light fastness

• Seals off rough and damaged grain aiding upgrading as well as for snuffed or corrected leathers for a full grain look with a fine grain break

Composition: Vie Filler UG is a highly concentrated non-ionic soft aqueous fine particle Silica free upgrading Filler.

• Can be used in both Cationic or Anionic Base coats

• Retains a fine grain and break

• Maintains the softness of the leather, has a pleasant silky, not dry feel

• Reduces Tack and Gloss of Base coats

• Has good Heat and Light fastness

Vie Filler UG Application: Use on all types of Leather in the base coat to increase coverage and filling properties while also effectively reducing tack and gloss, improves plateability and stackability, and can also be used in Fashion effects like distressed or second hand look, or even mixed with water miscible oils and waxes for whitening effects.

Example Applications:

• Add 25 –100 parts per kg in Anionic base coats mix as required for all types of Leathers

• Add 5 – 25 parts per kg in Cationic base coats mix as required for all types of Leathers

• Add 5 – 100 parts per kg in Water Miscible Oils and Waxes for various fashion effects

Vie Foam AX

Composition: Vie Foam AX is an aqueous, anionic derivative of a fatty acid for use in the Vie Foaming system.

Description: Vie Foam AX is a white liquid of medium to high viscosity. The product is used for foaming Vie Foam mixtures in an appropriate foam generating machine and for the stabilization of this mechanical foam.
The storage temperature should not be lower than + 10°C and not exceed + 30°C. The drums have to be closed immediately after use.

• Creates Foam with virtually all Aqueous Base coats

• Offers a very long lasting and stable Foam matrix

• Can reduce density from 1 gr/cm to up to 0.5 gr/cm

Vie Foam AX Application: Vie Foam AX is a Chemical Foam generator. Vie Foam AX is sometimes used together with Vie Foam ST. If used in too high amounts foam density will increase making application difficult. Therefore, the appropriate quantity has to be ascertained by pre-trials. The quantity applied varies between 8 and 30 g/kg mix to be foamed. The product should be added shortly before foaming.

Example Applications:

• 25–50 p. Vie Foam AX and 5–15 p. Vie Foam ST related to 1 kg unfoamed Vie Foam base coat mix has been found to give optimum results

• Spray x 1 -2 base coat: Water 200 parts Vie Super Penetrator LC 25 parts Viecryl 7 100 parts Viecryl 61 300 parts Vie Lustre SS 50 parts Vie Lustre H 50 parts Vie Wax 60 100 parts Vie Microtint Black/Jet Black 75 parts Viesol LD Black W 25 parts.

Vie Foam ST

Composition: Vie Foam ST is an APEO/NPE free stabilizer and wetting agent for use in the Vie Foaming system.

Description: Vie Foam ST is a slightly yellowish-white liquid of medium to high viscosity. The product is used as an auxiliary agent for Vie Foam finishing. Vie Foam ST is used to give the following properties:

• improvement of both wettability and rewettability

• stabilisation of the foam

• avoids cracking of foam coat during drying process

• Improves both wettability and re-wettability

• Stabilization of the mechanical foam, maintains even foam size

• Helps Flow out of Base coats

• Avoids cracking of the Foam coat during drying process

Vie Foam ST Application: Vie Foam ST can be added to the preparations which will be foamed in quantities of 0.5–2 % relative to the mix. Vie Foam ST is only used together with Vie Foam AX. If used in too high amounts a negative impact on the wet rub values might be the result. Therefore, the appropriate quantity has to be ascertained by pre-trials.

Example Applications:

• 25–50 p. Vie Foam AX and 5–15 p. Vie Foam ST related to 1 kg unfoamed Vie Foam base coat mix has been found to give optimum results

• Attention: Stir product thoroughly shortly before use! Add it to the rest of the mix together with Vie Foam AX, shortly before foaming.

Vie Ground GB

Composition: Vie Ground GB is a Weakly Cationic Polymer containing, Wax/Oil Ground

Description: Vie Ground GB is a white, low viscous liquid. The product is polishable, reduces the absorbency of the leather and gives a good filling and a smooth handle. Vie Ground GB can be used universally in anionic and cationic mixes. The product is an excellent anti-sticker without affecting negatively the intermediate adhesion. The finish will not be hardened. When used in pregrounds, leather defects are not highlighted.

• Anionic Add 25 – 100 parts per kg in aqueous Base Coats for all types of Leathers to improve plate release, increase softness and seal off damaged grain

• Cationic Add 25 – 75 parts per kg in aqueous Base coats for all types of Leathers to increase softness, plate release and seal off damaged grain

Vie Lustre CC

Composition: Vie Lustre CC is a Cationic Medium Hard natural Protein based on Casein for Garment, Shoe and Fancy goods Leathers.

• Improves Stacking and Embossing properties without hardening the finish

• Can be used in Cationic Finishes to increase heat resistance
